One out of five people experience some form of mental illness in their lifetime. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Ventura County works to educate, support and advocate for Mental Wellness in all residents in Ventura County.
On October 13, 2018 NAMIWalks celebrates its 13th anniversary, we invite you to take part in NAMI's largest and most successful mental health awareness and fundraising event in the country.
This year the NAMIWalks is moving to the San Buenavantura State park Parking Lot (near the Pier off Harbor Blvd near San Jon Road). The new location will allow more walkers to participate in the event, but that also means we need more volunteers to help the walk run smoothly.
Volunteers are needed for 3 shifts:
- 6:30am – 8:00am Set up volunteers
- Volunteers will help set up tables for vendors, registration and resource tables
- Put up directional signs along route
- Helping unload vehicles
- 8:00 am – 11:30am Event volunteers
- Register and assist walkers as they arrive for the event
- Staff booths including resource tables, t-shirt distribution tables, and volunteer check in
- Monitor route including handing out water, directing traffic and maintaining a clean route
- Assist team captains with creating a fun and fulfilling experience – assisting the photographers and cheering on the walkers
- 11:00am – 1:00pm Clean up volunteers
- Taking down all the tables, packing up supplies
- Loading trucks
- Securing trash
When you volunteer with NAMIWalks Ventura County, you join the movement to raise awareness of mental illness and raise funds for our mission to help individual and families right in our own communities.
Teams, Troops and organizations welcome to volunteer!!
Team Captains and walkers also encouraged to join us: visit NAMIWalks.org/venturacounty for more information on participating
