We are a volunteer-powered, grassroots group of Southern Californians who are passionate about reconnecting to our food system, promoting issues of food justice, and making change around hunger in our community. We convene at private properties, public spaces, and farmers and wholesale markets to recover excess fruits and vegetables, donating 100% to local direct-service agencies who feed our community?s most vulnerable. Combined, our diverse distribution partners provide food to over 100,000 clients a month across Southern California. Volunteers help us pick fruit from trees and pack it into boxes to be donated. Volunteers should be comfortable picking fruit and carrying boxes of fruit. Wear comfortable work clothing and close-toed shoes, and bring water to drink. Volunteers must be at least 5 years old, and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
