Community Emergency Response Team - FREE Training!
Ventura County Fire Department instructors teach this six-week week course, one evening per week.
Mondays, September 8 through October 13th. The final exercise will be held on Saturday, October 18.
Participants learn valuable emergency preparedness and response skills for self, family and community.
- Reduce hazards in your home and create an emergency plan for your family.
- Stock important items in your emergency kits to shelter-in-place or evacuate when necessary.
- Fire Safety and practice putting out a fire with a fire extinguisher.
- Disaster medical first aid -- when you are the first to see an injured person, be prepared to help!
- Set up a treatment area for survivors.
- Light search and rescue
- The CERT program teaches residents how to prepare before an emergency incident and how to respond. After a major incident, volunteers and helpful people are needed.
Invite friends and family members to take the classes with you!
Participants who complete the course receive a free CERT starter personal protective equipment (PPE) kit, with gloves, goggles, helmet, vest, a whistle and flashlight.
