Drivers play a fundamental role in the running of our food bank. The Salvation Army Simi Valley is in need of consistent volunteer drivers to assist with driving company van to and from grocery stores in Simi Valley. We are looking for drivers who can collect our food donations from a variety of locations across our local area. As a food pantry driver, all the duties that you perform allows us to be even more competent and efficient in helping the food pantry operate smoothly in order for us to serve the community in which we serve.
This position needs someone who can be available at least 2 days a week on a weekly basis. There are four days that we pick up food donations from around town and from the Ventura FoodShare. Our days for food donation pickups are: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday.
We're asking that you at least can commit to volunteering at least 2 days as a driver for the our food pantry. In order to start driving you will need to complete the trainings and pass background check first.
Duties include loading and unloading food from assigned grocery stores.
Qualifications & skills:
Valid Driver's License
Complete comprehensive training
Pass a background check
Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as food items, food boxes, and reach overhead.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Days and hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday are days we do different pick ups from our Donor stores. Each day is from 8:00am-12pm.
