Who We Are

Here at the Salvation Army Simi Valley Extension Service Center our motto is “We provide  a HAND UP and not a HANDOUT”.

The Salvation Army Mission Statement:
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

We are to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. We are an army that fights with love! We do this in every community that we are apart of.

Founded by William and Catherine Booth in 1865, The Salvation Army is an international organization and evangelical part of the universal Christian church that meets the physical and spiritual needs of people in 133 countries around the globe, without discrimination. With more than 7,500 centers of operation and a presence in almost every zip code in the United States, The Salvation Army assisted 31 million individuals nationwide, including providing more than 225 million meals and nearly 10 million lodgings.

Did you know there’s more to the Salvation Army than just the
thrift stores and the Red Kettles one sees during the holidays? Really, there is SO MUCH MORE TO US! At The Salvation Army, we know that one of the first results to occur in times of crisis is food insecurity. Many families don’t know where their next meal will come from. Whether the cause is a natural disaster, financial strain, or a pandemic, many families in need struggle to find nutritional food on a regular basis.

What We Do

What we do here at the Salvation Army Simi Valley Extension Center is offer hope. We want everyone to know that this is a place of HOPE, HEALING, INSPIRATION, JOY, and LOVE!

We provide emergency assistances to individuals and families going through emergency crisis with a holistic approach through acquiring basic needs, financial assistance, emotional/spiritual support and case management.

Our Service programs are food pantry, hygiene kits for those experiencing homelessness, Utility Assistance (SoCal Gas & Edison Electric), seasonal assistances (Back-to-School, Camp Registration, Christmas gifts), other resources and referrals provided.

All resources are based on available donations and funding. (Please take note, that our office location is NOT a thrift store. However we do accept food donations and seasonal item donations (such as school supplies, toys, and other).

Our Food Pantry hours are:

Tuesdays from 10am-12pm

Thursdays from 10am-12pm, 1pm -2pm.
