

Who We Are
Mission: To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
Special Olympics Ventura County, a division of Special Olympics Southern California, is dedicated to providing year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Ventura County. Their mission is to offer individuals with intellectual disabilities opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
What We Do
Special Olympics Ventura County offers a variety of programs and services to support athletes:

Sports Training and Competitions: Providing training and competitions in various Olympic-type sports, including basketball, soccer, and track and field, to develop athletes’ skills and physical fitness.

Unified Sports: Promoting inclusion by integrating athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same teams, fostering teamwork and mutual respect.

Athlete Leadership Programs: Empowering athletes to take on leadership roles within their teams and communities, enhancing their self-esteem and independence.

Health and Wellness Initiatives: Offering programs focused on healthy lifestyles, including fitness, nutrition, and wellness education, to improve athletes’ overall well-being.
