Who We Are

Mission: To overcome poverty through advocacy, partnership, and services that ensure there is a social safety net in Ventura County. We serve the community through services such as housing, food, employment, homelessness and youth.

Helping people overcome poverty through advocacy, partnerships and services that promote dignity and self-sufficiency. Community Action was established in 1965 as a product of volunteers and President Johnson’s Administration War on Poverty to become a force for community involvement in helping low-income families and homeless persons improve their economic well-being.

What We Do

Community Action of Ventura County, Inc. has dedicated employees, community board members and volunteers who are involved in providing services in the areas of housing, food, employment, homelessness and youth. Community Action actively participates in coalitions, commissions and other public forums dedicated to ensuring a safety net of basic services is accessible throughout Ventura County. Programs offered include: -Energy Efficient Home Repairs -Food Assistance -Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) -Los Compadres/ Successful Living for teens and young adults -Permanent Supportive Housing -Transition Center​ (Homeless Services)
