Who We Are

Mission: To lead the fight against hunger in Ventura County.

Food Share, Ventura County’s food bank, is the largest hunger-relief organization in the county, serving over 250,000 neighbors facing food insecurity annually. Staff and 4,400 volunteers distribute over 21 million pounds of food, equivalent to more than 17.5 million meals, through its 200 pantry and program partners  each year. Food Share is a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization, and the California Association of Food Banks. Food Share is dedicated to leading the fight against hunger in Ventura County because no one should go hungry. What We Do

Food Share purchases, rescues, gleans, stores and distributes 21 million pounds of nutritious food each year. Pantry coordinators from across the county visit Food Share warehouses to collect food for their local distributions.

In addition to the core food distribution efforts, we support local community groups and agency partners and work to ensure equitable access to food for underserved populations, including farmworkers, children and seniors.

Food Share runs many programs to support our neighbors, from children’s nutrition, senior support and essentials provisions, to outreach for unhoused neighbors and drive-thru distributions, household essentials provision and nutrition education. These programs meet people where they live, work or go to school. As a disaster responder, we also provide food, water and essentials during wildfires, mudslides, pandemics, and other crises.

Food Share also engages volunteers, raises critical funds and advocates for long-term, systemic solutions to hunger.
