Who We Are

Mission: To promote the health, well-being, dignity, and independence of frail, homebound elders through one-on-one relationships with trusted volunteers.

Founded in 1984 with a grant from the Interfaith Council on Aging and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet developed a community-based model to meet a growing need in the United States. Today, CAREGIVERS serves hundreds of seniors throughout all of Ventura County – one of the largest aging populations in the Nation! Thanks to generous gifts from Individuals, Foundations, Corporations and municipalities, CAREGIVERS continues to respond to the important needs of homebound and frail elders.

What We Do

CAREGIVERS offers non-medical, in-home support and transportation services to frail, homebound elders. Our goal is to prevent early placement in care facilities by helping seniors continue living comfortably at home. CAREGIVERS carefully matches trained volunteers with elders, providing basic assistance and companionship to build long-term, one-on-one relationships. Generally a volunteer donates 2-4 hours, one day a week, to a senior with whom they are matched up with.
