Mission: To promote creativity and self-expression to empower girls.
WriteGirl is a Los Angeles-based creative writing and mentoring organization that spotlights the power of a girl and her pen. At WriteGirl, we match girls with women writers who mentor them in creative writing. Every year, we produce dozens of workshops, panel discussions and special events to help girls get creative, get through high school and get to college! In fact, since 2001, 100% of our graduating seniors have entered college, many on full or partial scholarships.
What We Do
WriteGirl helps girls write their way to brilliant futures. WriteGirl is looking for women to serve as volunteers for our creative writing workshops and mentoring for teen girls. Join a vibrant community of women writers. Mentor a girl (monthly or weekly) in creative writing. Help with communications, book marketing, graphic design, fundraising, event planning or public relations. Through mentoring, writing workshops, public readings, performances and publications, WriteGirl teens explore poetry, fiction, journalism, screenwriting, songwriting and more. Monthly workshops (Saturdays) are held near downtown Los Angeles. Creative writing workshops also take place weekly at several schools in the greater Los Angeles region.
