Who We Are
Mission: To provide safe parks, promote physical and mental health through recreational activities and amenities, and preserve open space, trails and community history.
Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is a separate government agency from the City of Simi Valley, formed as a Special District in 1961 for the specific purpose of providing parks and recreation activities to the communities of Simi Valley and Oak Park. Since that time, the Park District has established 50+ parks and preserved over 5,600 acres of open space that allows for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and wildlife preservation. Additionally, decades of Simi Valley history has been preserved at the Strathearn Historical Park and Museum, where docent lead tours are available, and at the Santa Susana Train Depot where railroad enthusiasts can tour a depot built in 1903 with historic exhibits and miniature train displays.
