Who We Are
Mission: To provide resources to address the unmet housing and service needs of homeless individuals and families in Ventura County.
RAIN Transitional Living Center, operated by RAIN Communities Inc., was a nonprofit organization located in Camarillo, California, dedicated to assisting homeless individuals and families in Ventura County. Established in 2002, RAIN provided a nurturing environment for those facing homelessness, offering resources and support to help them achieve self-sufficiency. The center featured 16 rooms for families, six single rooms, and additional beds for individuals recovering from illness or injury. On average, residents stayed for 8 to 12 months, receiving intensive case management and support services.
What We Do
Key services provided include:
- Transitional Housing: RAIN Communities previously operated the RAIN Transitional Living Center (RAIN TLC) in Camarillo, offering temporary housing and support services to homeless families and individuals. As of April 2024, the County of Ventura transitioned to a bridge housing model, placing homeless families in motels and scattered-site leased apartments, leading to the closure of RAIN TLC.
- Support Services: The organization continues to provide resources such as funding for groceries, transportation, rent and utility assistance, auto repairs, diapers, and school supplies to support homeless families and individuals in Ventura County.
