Who We Are

Mission: To provide resources to empower, strengthen and support parents and other caregivers who have youth and/or children with mental health, behavioral, and/or emotional disorders.

Founded in 1990, by Norm and Ellen Linder United Parents’ principle is “parents helping parents.” Our founders recognized the unique challenges facing families raising children with emotional, behavioral or mental health needs. Armed with a small group of parents, they worked to enhance the long-term outcomes of families in desperate need of resources and support.

We are a unique family-driven, community based, non-profit organization. We identify and fill the gaps for parents of children who need support during their most difficult life challenges. United Parents provides staff and resources to co-empower, strengthen and support parents who have children with emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.

We advocate for families to be recognized as full partners in the treatment and care of their children, which is key to recovery.

What We Do

United Parents provides programs, support, training, resources, and referrals so that parents have the information, skills and resources to keep their children home and help them become successful in school and their communities. Programs include: Monthly support groups in English and Spanish, Parent to parent support where parents who have raised children with serious behavior disorders, Educational Advocacy assists parents in navigating the complex Special Education system, Respite Care, a break for stressed out parents who juggle meetings and appointments for their special needs child while trying to work and maintain a family, includes pro-social interactions through group activities for the children.
