Who We Are

The City of Camarillo acquired the Camarillo Ranch property in 1997 which included the historic house, barn and horse stables.  In 1998, the City established the Camarillo Ranch Foundation, Inc, a nonprofit public benefit corporation; in 1999, City Council appointed a 15-member Board to operate the Foundation.

The responsibility and mission of the Camarillo Ranch Foundation is to

  • Preserve, restore, and maintain Camarillo Ranch as a historic site in partnership with our public and private sectors, on a self-sustaining basis.
  • Foster Camarillo Ranch's place in the rich history of California.
  • Establish Camarillo Ranch as a focal point of the community for education, enrichment and enjoyment.
  • Exhibit Camarillo's diverse history and culture.

What We Do

The Foundation is working to make the Camarillo Ranch a prominent Ventura County venue for community events, school field trips, and film & photo shoots. All revenue earned from events benefits the preservation and education of this historic property. Camarillo Ranch Foundation volunteers have a passion for the history of California, the Camarillo Ranch, and the legacy of Adolfo Camarillo. Volunteers lead tours of the Camarillo Ranch House, conduct historical research, create archives, prepare exhibits, special projects, and help plan yearly events to further the Foundation’s mission. No former knowledge of Camarillo history required – just a desire to ensure the history lives on!
