Who We Are

Mission: To transform lives and empower independence by providing resources to the most at risk in our community.

Project Understanding initiates, develops and maintains programs pulling together the efforts of  individuals, local congregations and groups to meet the needs of the less fortunate. These programs are predominately in the areas of hunger, housing and homelessness and education of children.

What We Do

Project Understanding offers a variety of programs to support individuals and families in need:

  • Food Pantry: Provides weekly groceries to individuals and families whose budgets cannot support the purchase of their own, serving over 4,500 people per month.

  • Housing Assistance: Offers support to individuals and families facing housing instability, helping them secure and maintain stable housing.

  • Tutoring Services: Provides educational support to students, enhancing their academic skills and promoting self-sufficiency.
