Who We Are

Mission: To permanently protect the land, water, wildlife, and scenic beauty of the Ventura region for current and future generations.

Ventura Land Trust (VLT), previously the Ventura Hillsides Conservancy, is an environmental non-profit organization formed in 2003. The Ventura Land Trust is committed to sustainable stewardship of the lands it owns in perpetuity. We balance community access and environmental protection to best serve our members and the local community. VLT relies on volunteer efforts to be able to conduct habitat restoration activities throughout the Ventura County, primarily within the Ventura River Watershed.

What We Do

  • Preservation of Open Space: Protecting natural areas to enhance the economy, quality of life, and public well-being of Ventura and surrounding communities.
  • Public Access: Providing responsible public access to conserved lands, allowing the community to enjoy and connect with nature.
  • Stewardship: Restoring and enhancing native plant communities and wildlife habitats, reducing pollution in rivers, and connecting the public with vital ecological communities.
  • Education: Educating the public on the values of open space, ecological health, and biodiversity for the sustainability and long-term prosperity of the region.
