Who We Are

Mission: To protect rare and endangered plants and animals by restoring habitat in sensitive and unique natural areas on the California Channel Islands and adjacent mainland.

Channel Islands Restoration (CIR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring and preserving the natural ecosystems of the Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California. Founded in 2004, CIR works to protect and rehabilitate the islands’ unique habitats, focusing on ecological restoration, conservation, and environmental education. By partnering with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and local communities, CIR is actively involved in habitat restoration projects, invasive species management, and enhancing biodiversity. Their efforts aim to ensure that the Channel Islands remain a vital sanctuary for native species and a resource for future generations.

What We Do

Channel Islands Restoration offers a variety of services, including habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and native plant restoration projects. They work to restore degraded ecosystems, enhance wildlife habitats, and support the recovery of endangered species on the Channel Islands. CIR also provides educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of island conservation and environmental protection. Through partnerships and hands-on restoration efforts, CIR engages the community in meaningful environmental stewardship, empowering individuals to contribute to the preservation of these unique ecosystems.
