Who We Are
Shelter Care Resources provides food, clothing, school supplies, tutoring, medical appointment scheduling, and housing navigation to foster and homeless children and families. We are a grassroots operation blessed with amazing staff and volunteers, and fortunate to partner with a multitude of other organizations who share the same goals.
Whether you are a family in need, a family facing homelessness, or someone who works with homeless children, we are here to help.
What We Do
Shelter Care Resources operates a Foodshare food pantry on the campus of Calvary Chapel Oxnard most Fridays. We serve about 240 households per week. This is a drive-through pantry with a walk-up line for those without cars. We need volunteers for the following jobs:
Set up food boxes for bagging (must lift 25lbs) - 2:30pm Bag food (zero to light lifting <15lbs) 3:00pm
Parking lot attendance 4:00pm Registration (in-person and on computer - both on site) 4:00-6:45pm but you don't have to be there the whole time. Just let us know.
Put food in carts (light lifting <10lbs) 5:00pm-6:30pm
Push carts and load food in cars (must lift 25-50lbs) 5:00pm-6:30pm
Clean tables and put away equipment - 6:00pm-7:00pm
