Who We Are

Mission The California Science & Engineering Fair (CSEF) advances STEM education by providing a statewide platform for students to present original research, connect with mentors and professionals, and be recognized for their curiosity, rigor, and innovation. We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities that inspire students to see themselves as scientists, engineers, and problem-solvers. Vision We envision a future where every student—regardless of background—has access to high-quality STEM experiences and the confidence to pursue discovery, innovation, and impact. Through CSEF, we aim to cultivate a diverse and inclusive pipeline of future leaders in science and engineering who are equipped to address the challenges of tomorrow. History For 75 years, the California Science & Engineering Fair has brought together student researchers from across the state to share their work and be recognized at the highest level of pre-college STEM achievement. What began as a statewide effort to elevate student science has grown into a long-standing tradition that connects students, educators, and professionals in a shared commitment to learning and discovery. Today, CSEF continues to evolve—expanding access, strengthening community partnerships, and creating opportunities for students to engage with science in meaningful and lasting ways.

What We Do

The California Science & Engineering Fair advances STEM education by giving students a statewide platform to present their research, connect with judges and mentors, and be recognized for their achievements. We bring this mission to life through our annual fair, made possible by volunteers who help create a smooth, welcoming, and inspiring experience for students and families.
