Mission: To save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide through research, education, advocacy, and support.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP works through research, advocacy, public education, and support programs to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide. By promoting mental health awareness and providing resources for prevention, AFSP empowers individuals and communities to take action in preventing suicide and supporting those in need.
What We Do
Services and programming of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention include:
- Funding and supporting suicide prevention research
- Offering educational programs and resources to raise awareness
- Providing support to those affected by suicide through grief counseling and support groups
- Advocating for mental health and suicide prevention policies at local, state, and national levels
- Organizing awareness and fundraising events, such as walks and campaigns, to engage communities in prevention efforts
