Every 2 seconds, someone needs blood, and the American Red Cross collects and distributes 40% of our nation's blood supply. There is no substitute for blood that is given in advance by a generous blood donor. Blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, new moms with complicated childbirths, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer.

Qualifications:

Communicate in a professional manner with diverse populations Demonstrate excellent customer service and comfort working with people Manage the reception process by ensuring each donor is warmly greeted and assisted with initial intake according to the appointment priority system Manage the hospitality experience by offering refreshments to donors, thanking them for their contribution, and alerting staff immediately if a donor shows signs of feeling unwell

Be Red Cross Ready: Build confidence and learn simple steps you can take now to help prepare and protect your family. Each presentation is tailored to the types of disasters relevant to the local area (ex: home fire, wildfire, earthquake) and can be adjusted based on length and audience The Pillowcase Project: Help kids age 8-11 (grade 3-5) prepare for emergencies. Students will learn earthquake and home fire preparedness and safety skills, as well as how to stay calm during stressful situations. Red Cross presenters use a 'Learn, Practice, Share’ framework to encourage students to help prepare their family and community for emergencies after the presentation. Prepare with Pedro: This new program for kids age 5-7 (K-2nd grade) uses the story of Pedro the Penguin to teach students how to prepare for and take action during emergencies such as home fires and wildfires.

Community outreach to find organizations, schools, or businesses who are interested in have a presentation for their members Helping to refine and edit training materials Plan for preparedness programming through participation in meetings, projects, and local preparedness activities
