Volunteers assist in the care of rabbits while at the shelter and help save rabbit lives through adoptions! They also educate on proper house-rabbit care & assist our adopters in the adoption process and selection of rabbits best suited to their home. Volunteers' day-to-day activities include: * Cleaning kennels & litter boxes, * Feeding & watering * Socializing & grooming rabbits and more.

Help save the lives of Ventura County dogs by walking with them, running with them, working on enrichment, among many other fun opportunities! Volunteers assist in the care of shelter dogs, work to get adoption information out into the community, assist our adopters in the adoption process and selection of dogs best suited to their home & work to reunite shelter dogs with their owners.

Some key responsibilities include: * Greeting the public * Cleaning kennels * Cat Enrichment programs * Photography & Bios * Updating kennel information signage and more.

The Ventura County Animal Services Pet Pantry is open every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Camarillo Shelter and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Simi Valley Shelter. During the Pet Pantry hours volunteers will give food and (if available) supplies to owners struggling to feed their pets. Volunteer duties include: * Bring in and Sort Donations * Bag Pet Food for Distribution  and more.

Rancho Camulos is the only Mexican land grant rancho in California that is open to the public and still preserved in its original rural environment. The site contains 15 historic structures and is Ventura County's only National Historic Landmark. Rancho Camulos is looking for Docent Volunteers. Docents will lead tours for families and school children. 

Non-Advocate Volunteer: - Comes into contact with children or confidential information - Acts as a representative or speaker on behalf of the program.

Level III Non-Advocate Volunteer - Does not come into contact with children or confidential information (non-office volunteer) - Assists with monthly newsletter, mailings, fundraisings, etc. - May work on onetime events

We are constantly rescuing dogs from shelters and need volunteers to drive them from the shelter to their new foster homes. This is a very rewarding experience as you get to see first hand how happy a dog can be once they are rescued from a shelter.

The Boys & Girls Club is always looking for volunteers that can assist our members with homework, as well as additional educational skills. Tutors are needed at all three club sites, as well as our after-school programs in El Rio and Port Hueneme year round.

Our clubs are used by over 200 to 300 youth DAILY, and our equipment and facilities get extreme use by active kids. If you have a skill or an interest in this area, we would greatly appreciate help with construction, painting, ground keeping, landscaping and vehicle repairs. Volunteering your time reduces our cost and allows us to utilize funding for youth programs and activities.

BGCOP offers undergraduate and graduate-level internships at our three main clubhouses. Interns will be eligible for academic credit; however, internships are unpaid. Interns are expected to complete a minimum of 60 hours during their tenure. Opportunities are available in our various departments including: Education, Marketing, Resource Development, Technology, Athletics and Programming. Applicants must provide a résumé and undergo a background check as volunteers. Placements are made on a rolling basis throughout the year, subject to availability and need.

Volunteers in this arena work on special events and fundraising for the Club. Time is flexible and is usually evenings and weekends. There are monthly meetings to coordinate efforts, and you control how much time you spend by what you sign up for. Options include: annual auction, community events, golf tournament, fundraising and grant writing

Sports and recreational activities are proven to keep kids in good physical shape, help social interaction, boost energy, keep them out of trouble, and encourage discipline and sportsmanship. You can help make sure that every child in our community has a chance to participate in these great activities. We need coaches and officials for cheerleading, dance, flag football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, boxing, weight training, soccer and track. Practices are held weeknights and game days are held on Saturdays.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme has 14 club sites located at schools in the Rio and Ocean View School District in Oxnard. We are in need of volunteers to help our dedicated staff provide Art, music, sports, theater, admin support and filling, and homework help to our members. The after school site hours very depending on the school, in general we need help in the afternoon

Tot Soccer: This challenging program for children ages three to six is an instructional soccer program. It is not a competitive league, rather it teaches soccer skills, strategy, and athletic techniques. The instructor utilizes volunteers to help run drills, plays, and teach the game of soccer.

Tot T-Ball: This program is for children ages 3-6. Volunteers help the instructor on Saturdays with set up, clean up, working with the children, assisting with coaching, and more.

Music & Movies in the Park: Volunteers assist with set up and clean up, monitoring the band dressing area, and the information booth. The concerts and movies draw hundreds to thousands of people to enjoy the music or movie in the Summer. With such large crowds, volunteer help is essential.

Kindergarten Crash Course: Volunteers assist our instructor with this Summer program for children who are preparing to enter Kindergarten. The program is designed to introduce children to the alphabet and numbers, craft projects, story time, free play, and other skills that will assist them when they enter Kindergarten in the Fall.

Arts & Crafts Fairs: These events offer people who hand-craft items the opportunity to sell their crafts to the public. Volunteers help with a craft booth for children, games and moonbounces, and other activities to keep children busy while their parents shop. Additionally, they help vendors, especially the disabled or senior vendors carry their merchandise to and from their booth or car during set up and clean up.

Alternative Recreation Programs: The District offers classes, programs, field trips, and independent living skills for teens and adults with disabilities. Volunteers assist our staff with these programs, helping with passing out materials, as chaperones and more.

No experience necessary. We will train you. Volunteers may help in the office with clerical duties such as computer data entry, filing, packet preparation, photocopying and more. Volunteers may also be trained to answer phones and help at the front counter. This is a great assignment for someone who needs office training, needs to keep up their office skills while not working or to practice office skills

Help coaches or instructors with teaching the fundamental of sports to children. Typical sports programs include soccer, basketball, t-ball, etc. These are not leagues, but recreational programs to teach fundamental skills.

Master's Level Field Placement Trainees

Placement opportunities in Santa Paula, Thousand Oaks and Oxnard.  Please submit resume with cover letter indicating term of field practicum placement.  Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.  MFT and MSW field practicum student trainees provide individual, group and family counseling to youth and their parents in our service locations.  Must be enrolled in Practicum as part of a Master's Program.  Minimum commitment on site is 10 hours per week.  This is a volunteer opportunity and not a paid position. Youth Probation Programs

Volunteers needed to assist with weekly Diversion Classes for youth.  Classes are ordered for first time offenders and deal with topics related to offense.  Volunteers will work at registration tables, set-up referral table and, be trained to conduct PowerPoint presentations to youth and parents referred by Ventura County Probation Agency.  Topics at both locations are: Substance Abuse, Violence Prevention, Property Crimes, Graffiti Vandalism.  Each youth must be accompanied by parent or guardian.  Class is educational in nature.

Time Commitment:  Must commit to two hours weekly.  Oxnard Class Thursday evenings from 5 to 7PM.  Simi Valley Class Tuesday evenings 5 to 7PM.  If interested, please contact Youth Services, youthservicesvolunteer@icfs.org

Youth Development Volunteer Opportunity:

Interface offers various youth development activities to youth engaged in our runaway and homeless youth services.  Some of the activities currently offered are youth council and life skill classes.  Volunteers are currently needed to lead positive youth development activities.  Youth development activities include leadership skill building, educational workshops, and recreational activities.  If you have a talent or a skill that you would like to share with area youth please contact our program.
