Community Emergency Response Team - FREE Training!

Ventura County Fire Department instructors teach this six-week week course, one evening per week, and a final exercise held on Saturday.

Participants learn valuable emergency preparedness and response skills for self, family and community.

  • Reduce hazards in your home and create an emergency plan for your family.
  • Stock important items in your emergency kits to shelter-in-place or evacuate when necessary.
  • Fire Safety and practice putting out a fire with a fire extinguisher.
  • Disaster medical first aid -- when you are the first to see an injured person, be prepared to help!
  • Set up a treatment area for survivors.
  • Light search and rescue
  • The CERT program teaches residents how to prepare before an emergency incident and how to respond.  After a major incident, volunteers and helpful people are needed.

Invite friends and family members to take the classes with you!

Participants who complete the course receive a free CERT starter personal protective equipment (PPE) kit, with gloves, goggles, helmet, vest, a whistle and flashlight.
