Who We Are

Mission: To provide services and supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve their goals toward a life of opportunity, choice, participation, and contribution.

We are a nonprofit corporation that was established in Santa Paula in 1954 by a group of parents and teachers who knew their children deserved a full life. Nearly 70 years have passed since that small group made their commitment and dreams a reality. Today, our mission remains the same and is achieved through person-centered services that actively support full inclusion and participation in the community.

The organization is one of 700 state and local chapters throughout the country affiliated with The Arc, the largest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

What We Do

  • Person-Centered Services: The organization offers individualized support plans that focus on the unique needs and aspirations of each person, promoting independence and self-determination.
  • Community Inclusion: The Arc actively supports the full inclusion and participation of individuals with IDD in the community, fostering environments where they can contribute and thrive.
  • Advocacy: As part of a national network, The Arc of Ventura County advocates for the rights and well-being of individuals with IDD, working to ensure they have access to necessary resources and opportunities.
