Description [ Hide help ] :		Please join team of volunteers in sorting of non perishable, rescued food. Food is sorted into various categories and packaged in boxes, weighed and labeled. Fun, informal atmosphere!  Sorted food will be provided to agencies within Ventura County for distribution to people in need of food.  This project is available for adults and children twelve years of age and up.  FOOD Share mission is to end hunger in Ventura County.  Comfortable dress with closed toe shoes, jeans, t shirt, sweat shirt. gloves provided if needed. FOOD Share mission "is to alleviate hunger in Ventura County by gleaning, collecting, storing, and distributing surplus donated food to a network of certified charitable organizations that feed those in need." Description: FOOD Share searches for surplus food from every possible source. FOOD Share also receives food from America's Second Harvest, the national network of over 200 food banks. Over 100,000 hungry people countywide receive food from FOOD Share. FOOD Share is the emergency food lifeline to Ventura County's children, families and disable, the working poor and disaster victims.
