A California State Certified Ombudsman gets the opportunity to support and advocate for senior citizens living in Long Term Care Facilities. Many residents in skilled nursing facilities have no family and friends available to ensure that their lives have quality and dignity. Being an Ombudsman volunteer is a wonderfully gratifying opportunity to really make a difference in someone's life.
State Certified Ombudsmen must got through a 36 hour training, followed by 15 hours of mentoring in the field. They receive constant updating of their skills, and support from the staff and their colleagues.
