The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme announced a new program called “AMP.” This Aftercare Mentoring Program will pair up a community mentor with a mentee in the juvenile justice facility, with hopes of building a solid relationship after the youth is released. The club is seeking volunteer mentors for our upcoming training in September. Desirable candidates would have an interest in working with young offenders and a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of young people. Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older, able to make a 1 year commitment of at least 2 hours a week, and complete a criminal background check. Mentors will work with youth inside the facility as well as in the community. There will be a 9 hr training, background check required, valid drivers license with proof of insurance.
