Agency Details:
Ventura County Resource Conservation District
VCRCD exists to assist rural and urban communities in the conservation, protection, and restoration of natural resources.
Description:
The Ventura County Resource Conservation District (VCRCD) guides the stewardship of Ventura County’s land and water resources. This involves the prevention of and control of runoff, erosion, sedimentation, flooding, and land damage through improved land use planning, land treatments, and structural conservation measures. Soils, geology, hydrology, vegetative cover, topography, and air quality are items considered in plans for agricultural, watershed-wildlands use and urban, industrial, and recreational developments. The VCRCD coordinates its program with other federal, state, county, local agencies, groups and individuals in the field of resource conservation.
History:
The VCRCD came into existance in 1979 as a result of the merger of the Ojai RCD and the South Ventura County RCD. Our history in the county goes back to the 1950's.
