ACTION Foundation is a non-profit service group providing volunteer services to the cities of Ventura County. ACTION works with local churches and agencies including Interface, Rescue Mission Alliance, Domestic Violence Shelter, Caring Neighbors, Many Mansions, Lutheran Social Services, Area Housing Authority, YMCA, and others.
We assist these groups in meeting various needs of the elderly, disabled, special needs and low income families. Many of the things we do require handyman type services using volunteer labor and donated materials.
History:
ACTION was birthed by a group of Ventura County churches (Bible Fellowship Church, Vineyard Community Church, EV Free Church of the Conejo Valley, and Calvary Community) after leaders from those churches attended an event called “Agents of Grace” in November 2003. Agents of Grace has also become a separate non-profit that facilitates church unity and works of compassion.
The leaders who attended this 2003 meeting saw first hand how this program was affecting the community and felt a call to develop a similar program here in Ventura County. Over the last two years, a partnership of churches stretching from Ventura to Agoura called ACTION has been formed. Countywide serving days have taken place each June, with more than 1000 participants each. Annual Community Christmas Shoppes have also been held to provide toys for needy families both in East and West County. Dozens of smaller partnership projects have taken place and several local churches have launched new community outreach ministries.
