Our mission is to provide Direct Services and Programs in Family Education & Literacy, Youth Leadership & Development and Citizenship & Immigration to the underserved Latino Community. We accomplish our mission by providing programs and services, advocating for the clients we serve, and collaborating with other community organizations and agencies.
Description:
Our future is in our youth and we, as a community are responsible to see that all our youth are nurtured to become loving, caring and responsible adults. Violence and self-destructive behavior exhibited by many of our youth today is a direct result of social negligence. Our mission is to provide our youth with the life affirming programs that build self-esteem, self-worth, promote social responsibility, and nurture respect for oneself and others. The skills learned in our programs provide a gateway for our clients to acquire an improved quality of life by increasing their chances to further their education and learning to navigate through the vast body of knowledge which is available to them. Our parent participants become equipped with the ability to assist and support their children’s academic development by demonstrating “a culture of learning” and passing this on to the new generation. El Concilio has developed a cost-effective and community-based approach to becoming a U.S. citizen as well as a broad range of family based immigration services. The overall goal of the program is to work toward the civic empowerment and long-term economic integration of the Latino community by promoting the importance of U.S. citizenship and by providing much-needed technical assistance to eligible legal permanent residents in the application process.
