American Heart Association - Ventura County
Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Description:
We are working everyday to save lives from America's No. 1 and No. 3 killers, heart disease and stroke. Our goal is to reduce risk, disability and death from heart disease and stroke by 25 percent by the year 2010. By providing invaluable outreach programs to local community members, businesses and schools, we are able to educate the public on risk factors and preventative measures while continuing to raise funds to combat the effects of heart disease and stroke.
History:
The American Heart Association was formed in 1924, by six cardiologists wanting to strengthen education and research regarding heart disease by forming a national organization. Since 1949 the American Heart Association has spent more than $2.9 billion on research to increase our knowledge about cardiovascular disease and stroke.
