The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control, and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
Description:
The Arthritis Foundation provides quality of life programs either free or at low cost to the community. These programs include: Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program, Arthritis Foundation Aquatics Program, Arthritis Foundation Self Help Courses (both in English and Spanish), Tai Chi for Arthritis. We also offer free packets of information, resources, books, physician's referral lists etc.
History:
As the largest private, nonprofit source of funds for arthritis research in the United States, the Arthritis Foundation has since its establishment in 1948, spent more than $225 million on research grants and awards.
Approximately 66 million (1 in 3) people are affected by arthritis in the United States. There are more than 120 forms of arthritis and related diseases that annually cost the US economy $86 billion in medical care and lost wages.
