Ventura County Animal Services
Our Mission is to improve the lives of the animals under our care, to be timely and compassionate in our response to customer issues, to educate through community outreach and public awareness, and to provide for the health and safety of the citizens and animals of Ventura County. Our Vision is that Ventura County Animal Services will be a catalyst in working toward a future where everyone is a responsible pet owner, there are no unwanted pets, and the rabies virus is no longer a menace to animals and humans.
Description:
Our Agency services 9 of the 10 cities in Ventura County and the unincorporated parts of the County in sheltering stray animals, both large and small. And finding homes for these animals through reuniting them w/ their owners, and adoptions. We also provide animal education and wildlife awareness, rabies suppression, and licensing.
History:
The cities and county formed a united approached to animal control in 1980. In 1985 the Camarillo Shelter was built at Camarillo Airport.
