Mercy Ministries International
Our mission statement is simple: “We exist to provide life essential services that restore dignity and hope to people in need”. The heart of all our programs are children. Our food distribution and tutoring programs directly benefit children. Our future transitional home will aim to provide children a safe environment while their mothers get established and better prepared to face the challenges of being a single-parent family. Our tutoring program aims to help children be more successful and confident learners. We also provide services and programs such as GED study, parenting and job skills programs that enhance family life for children.
Description:
Mercy Ministries International is focused on unincorporated El Rio and Nyeland Acres in Ventura County, Calif. In Jan.2008 we launched two programs that continue to operate on a weekly basis: We provide food for the residents of these two communities every Saturday; we also tutor elementary age children each Monday and Wednesday. We are endeavoring to nurture and "enrich the soil" in which the children of El Rio/Nyeland Acres are growing. Our focus for 2009 is to develop the tutoring program into into a complete learning assistance resource for the children and families of these two communities. We have established a computer lab and are providing the tools for education assistance as well adult training. We also have plans to open a transitional home for single mothers as soon as possible.
History:
Mercy Ministries International has been active in the communities of El Rio and Nyeland Acres since 2007. Our two current programs were launched and have been running successfully since January 2008.
