Description:
The Salvation Army Ventura is dedicated to seeing an end to homelessness in Ventura within the next 10 years. We operate a year round family transitional living center for families and single women. Our Transitional Living Center provides housing, counseling, and case management for up to 45 individuals. Usually about half of these are children. Clients must find employment within 30 days or pursuit short term vocational training enabling them to find a better job. They pay 30% of their income as rent while saving 50% of their income to be used when they graduate. Case management is done by our team consisting of a MFT. Job developer, and budgeting specialist. Each client has an individualized treatment plan focusing on their specific issues. 80% of clients maintain with housing and income for six months after leaving our program. In addition we operate a food pantry 3 days a week where we assist with food for individuals and families. We provide clothing vouchers for individuals looking for work.
History:
The Salvation Army has been active in Ventura since 1891 serving low income and homeless individuals within our community. Our Transitional Living Center has been open since 1994.
