The Ventura County Medical Center Auxiliary recognizes that the primary reason for their existence is service to patients, their families and hospital personnel. By donating their time, energy and expertise, hospital volunteers provide extra services that supplement the basic functions of the hospital's professional staff; services which add to the comfort, care and peace of mind of each patient regardless of race, creed, color or economic status.
Description:
The Ventura County Medical Center Auxiliary is located on Loma Vista Road in Ventura, California. Auxiliary Volunteers may also donate their time at our second location at the hospital in Santa Paula, California. Volunteers at both locations are involved in a number of activities which include but are not limited to; Enhancing Patient Care, Fund-raising, Organizational Support and Community Services. The Auxiliary Volunteers bring a wealth of experience to their work, experience which benefits patients, the hospital's staff and the community as a whole. Our volunteers give the most precious gift of all, themselves!
History:
The Ventura County Medical Center Auxiliary was chartered in 1959 and Incorporated in 1986. The Auxiliary is a non-profit 501(c)(3). The Santa Paula campus opened in June of 2006. The VCMC Auxiliary is made up of an "Adult Volunteer Program" as well as a "Summer Student Volunteer Program". Volunteers have donated an average of 20,000 hours of service each year. There are currently 150 registered volunteers. The VCMC Auxiliary operates and manages a gift shop at each facility. All VCMC Auxiliary Fund-raising efforts are donated back to each Hospital supporting nursing scholarships, student scholarships, hospital equipment, patient needs, special events, volunteer and employee recognition.
