The Camarillo Health Care District is dedicated to ensuring that a wide range of innovative health and wellness services are available to District residents of all ages.

    Description:
The District focuses on maximizing health and wellness through prevention, screening, education and support. The services provided include Transportation Services, Adult Day Support Services, Lifeline In-Home Medical Alert Services, Senior Lunch Programs, Nail Care Clinic, Caregiver Resources, Health Screenings, Counseling, Exercise, Advocacy, Education, and Support Groups. We could not offer such wonderful and successful programs without our volunteers. Because these programs have grown so rapidly, we are in need of volunteers in all areas of services. Our Senior Meal Program, which we opened in April 2005, has become one of our biggest programs with the greatest need and opportunity for new volunteers. We have many areas that are available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday for 2-3 hours each day as a driver to deliver meals to those seniors that are home bound or help in our Apple-A-Day Cafe, located at the Camarillo Community Center, at the corner of Burnley and Carmen. Another opportunity is with our Nail Care Clinic. We provide very low cost nail care for seniors with a licensed pedicurist in a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Lifeline, the personal emergency response system is always looking for volunteers to install and remove the equipment. All of these programs depend on our volunteers and there are opportunities available.

    History:
Camarillo Health Care District is a public agency formed in 1969 by the voters of the Pleaseant Valley and surrounding areas to provide community health services. Since that time, the District has grown and has been recognized statewide as California's Outstanding Healthcare District. We were just recently awarded the Camarillo Service Organization of the Year by the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce. This is awarded to organizations for their outstanding dedication to the community and it is the first time that a special district has been selected for this award.
