    History:
Turning Point Foundation was created as a result of a 1986 contract between Ventura County Mental Health(VCMH) and Progress Foundation of San Francisco. Progress Foundation agreed to develop two residential programs and a Socialization Center for mentally disabled adults in Ventura County and establish a local non-profit mental health agency. A Community Advisory Committee was formed which became the founding members of the Board of Directors of the new agency. Turning Point Foundation was incorporated on November 30, 1988 and on February 1, 1990 it assumed responsibility for all of the existing and the Self-help program was added.
