United Way of Ventura County is an independent, local, nonprofit organization made up primarily of volunteers working to raise and allocate funds for a broad range of health and human service needs in Ventura County.
Helping people make the best use of their charitable investments is the foundation of the United Way Community Impact Campaign. While many charities have a single cause, the United Way Campaign raises funds for many agencies providing a broad spectrum of services throughout our community. Funds are raised through an annual community-wide fundraising campaign that responds to the year-round assessment of problems, issues, and services in Ventura County.
The United Way of Ventura County Community Impact Campaign is more than a once-a-year fundraising and allocations process - it gives back to the community. United Way publishes The United Way Community Impact Directory of Agencies and Services - a tool that assists people in finding help when they need it.
Community Impact Campaign funds are distributred to community impact programs chosen through a volunteer citizen review process. In this process, volunteers on the Community Impact Cabinet assess the effectiveness of agency programs in meeting community needs and determine the level of funding to appropriate program applicants.
